Ladies ladies ladies... being in a sorority is the best decision I have ever made in my entire life and here is why!
A little side note, I am an Alpha Phi at Texas Tech University. I chose to be in a sorority to meet new people, have a home away from home, and have that built in accountability that a sorority has!
Okay I know how the movies can portray greek life, rumors you may hear, and even just concerns you may have. Well I am here to tell you nothing but the truth.
THINGS I ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT SORORITY LIFE...
How much are dues? At my school it is about $1900 a year after initiation dues. (all schools are different)
Are you just paying for friends? absolutely not... being in greek life gives you thousands of opportunities during and after your college years.
How much time do you have to give towards your chapter? Personally my chapter allows us to give as much and as little time you are willing to give!
Do you really meet your best friends? YES YES YES! can not stress this one enough, I have no doubt they will stand next to me at the alter.
Was recruitment hard/ scary? I actually never went through recruitment due to an accident I was in but I know plenty of other people who did tell me all the stress and hardship of recruitment was SO beyond worth it. I will be doing a post talking about the other side of recruitment later!
Is there a lot of "DRAMA"? Like anything it is how you make the experience, I say if you don't chase the drama it won't chase you!
Are grades important? Yes, my chapter has a minimum GPA requirement of a 2.75!
BUT... this is what I am going to tell you. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE IN GREEK LIFE TO MAKE FRIENDS. You will still meet the people you are suppose to! But... if you are going back and forth about it, give rush a try!
I know there are so many topics that are uncovered, which I will try to get to on a later post!
As always if you have any further questions feel free to reach out;)
